My goal is to help taxpayers get compliant and stay out of trouble.\n \nI earned my J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, PA. While at law school, I interned in the federal estate and gift tax attorney division of the IRS, and participated in the review and audit of federal estate tax returns.\n \nI started writing using the moniker Taxgirl years ago and love making complicated information accessible to taxpayers and tax professionals. \n \nI hate lists of awards but do have a few that I'm particularly proud of, including the Philadelphia Business Journal "40 under 40" and being named one of the Global Tax 50 by the International Tax Review for my "tireless and passionate tax reporting."\n \nI love to travel with my family and spend much of my time explaining to the kids why we can’t move to Europe—this week.\n \n \nKelly Phillips Erb is Tax Counsel for White & Williams, LLP where her primary\n practice area is tax law including trusts and estates; domestic and international\n tax planning; and tax controversy matters including delinquencies. She likes to\n say that she helps taxpayers get and stay out of trouble.\n \nShe earned her J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from Temple University School of Law in\n Philadelphia, PA. While at law school, Kelly interned in the federal estate and gift\n tax attorney division of the IRS, where she participated in the review and audit of\n federal estate tax returns.\n \nThis year, Kelly has returned to writing tax news and analysis for Forbes. She was\n previously a staffer at Bloomberg Tax where she wrote and helped other tax\n professionals share tax stories. Kelly’s articles and interviews have appeared in a\n wide range of media outlets including CNN Money, National Public Radio’s\n Marketplace, BBC, Time, Forbes Magazine, Esquire, Martha Stewart’s Living, the\n Philadelphia Inquirer, and the ABA Journal. She has also been featured alongside\n former IRS Commissioner Charles Rossotti, Steve Forbes and Ron Paul in a tax\n documentary, “An Inconvenient Tax,” earning her a spot in the IMDB.\n \nKelly is a member of the bar of Pennsylvania and is licensed to practice in front of\n the U.S. Tax Court. She is an active member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association\n (PBA) and served for many years on the PBA Solo and Small Firm Practice\n Section Council as an officer. She is a regular speaker at tax events for\n organizations including the PBA, AICPA, and NAEA, and has appeared on a\n number of podcasts. Kelly’s own podcast lives on the popular Taxgirl blog, which\n has been recognized by the ABA Journal as one of the top blogs written by\n lawyers.\n \nKelly received the “40 under 40" award in 2012, which recognizes young\n professionals in the Delaware Valley as determined by the Philadelphia Business\n Journal. In 2013, she was named as one of 23 Main Line Today’s “Power Women”\n which celebrates women making an impact in the region, and a year later, she\n received the inaugural Pennsylvania Bar Association Solo and Small Firm Practice\n
